This is a sacred collaboration between two women who honor the ancestral, tribal, and Indigenous traditions that birthed tattooing as a spiritual practice. Across cultures and throughout history, tattoos have been portals, protectors, storytellers and we treat them with that same reverence. After years of working together, Magie and I have built a bond of deep trust and mutual respect; she has tattooed me many times, and I wouldn’t place my skin or my spirit in anyone else’s hands. Together, we work from the heart, meeting each person exactly where they are, creating an experience that feels less like an appointment and more like sitting down for tea, grounded, safe, held, and completely comfortable.

A Ceremonial Tattoo is more than just ink on skin, it is a living talisman, a ritual of remembrance, intention, and transformation. This offering blends the artistry of tattooing with the sacred principles of energy work, symbolism, and ritual.  Together, myself and Magie from Home Sweet Home Tattoo have partnered up to create an experience that is deeply personal, energetically aligned, and spiritually resonant.

About the artist Magie

Home Sweet Home Tattoo is a custom tattoo studio founded and owned by Brooklyn native Magie McGowan (formerly Serpica). Magie began tattooing in the early 2000s, working her way through iconic New York neighborhoods, Coney Island, Bay Ridge, and Sunset Park before opening her first studio, Milk and Honey Tattoo, in Staten Island. With 25 years of experience and formal training through FIT’s illustration program, Magie is fluent in a wide range of tattoo styles including fineline, illustrative, blackwork, traditional, color, and cover‑ups. Her studio is rooted in trauma‑informed practice, welcoming and affirming all bodies, identities, skin tones, gender expressions, and neurodivergence. Every client is met with care, respect, and artistry.

Where Ritual Meets Ink

Magie and I work together to create a tattoo experience that is both artistic and spiritual, a ceremony that honors your story, your body, and your transformation.

1. Opening The Ritual

Your session begins with a grounding conversation about the symbolism behind your tattoo the memories it carries, the story it honors, and the intention you want woven into the ink and stencil. From there, I prepare both the space and your body through energetic cleansing, purifying your auric and quantum fields so your intention can be received in a clear, open state.

I work with smoke infused with resins and herbs (unless you have sensitivities), along with sound healing vibrations from a range of traditional and Indigenous instruments such as Native American rattles and drums, crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes, and flutes. These frequencies help calm the nervous system, open the energetic channels, and anchor you into the ritual with presence and peace.

2. Intention Activation

Before the tattooing begins, the area of the body is blessed, the stencil/transfer is cleansed and consecrated, Reiki and Angelic Frequencies are infused into the skin and ink, and a spoken intention is set and sealed. This transforms the tattoo from an image into a vessel of meaning.

3. The Tattoo Process

As Magie tattoos, I hold the energetic container, channeling Reiki into the body, supporting the nervous system, maintaining a grounded sacred atmosphere, and ensuring the intention stays active throughout the process.  There will be relaxing zen music playing to keep you tuned into the sacred energy.   This creates a tattoo experience that is calm, supported, and deeply embodied.

4. Closing The Ceremony

Once the tattoo is complete, I will perform a final ritual: a blessing or prayer, a Reiki seal over the tattoo, and a closing of the energetic field. This anchors the tattoo as a living talisman, a symbol that continues to work with you long after the session ends.

5. Take‑Home Talisman Necklace Charm | A Memoir of Your Ceremony

To complete your experience, you’ll receive a miniature talisman necklace charm created from the ritual itself a physical memoir of your ceremony. This charm holds the ashes of your original stencil, blessed and sealed during the session, carrying the intention, energy, and symbolism you set at the beginning of your journey.

It’s a reminder that your tattoo is not just art on the skin, but a living story. The talisman allows you to take home a piece of the ceremony, a touchstone you can wear or keep close as your new chapter unfolds.

Why Choose A Ceremonial Tattoo?

This experience is ideal for anyone who wants their tattoo to be a rite of passage, a memorial or tribute, a healing symbol, a spiritual activation, a reminder of who they’re becoming, a reclaiming of the body, or a moment of closure or rebirth. It is tattooing with intention, reverence, and soul.

Prices

The ceremony itself is $100, which covers all of the above plus your ceremonial gift and this fee is separate from the tattoo cost. Magie has her own pricing for the tattoo itself.
